Snowflake will not use indexes. This is one of the features that will make Snowflake suitable for random queries. Thus, rather than creating and dropping the indexes in Snowflake, we will use the Clustering Keys. In this blog, we will discuss dropping the clustering keys.
Snowflake does not support indexes. But in specific situations, we can use the clustering keys as a substitute for Indexes. For dropping the clustering key, we use “ALTER TABLE .. DROP CLUSTERING KEY” command:
Syntax:
alter table table_name drop clustering key;
Example:
alter table active_users drop clustering key;
In Snowflake, when we don’t need the clustering keys, we will drop them. This blog helps you to learn to drop an index through a command. I hope this article gives you sufficient information about dropping an index.
